Mammoths Lived In Britain Longer Than Thought

06.18.2009 - Mammoths survived late in Britain

According to new radiocarbon dating conducted on fossils uncovered in the English county of Shropshire, woolly mammoths lived in England as recently as 14,000 years ago. This is 6,000 years longer than previously thought.

Dr. Adrian Lister, who spearheaded the study, says that mammoths disappeared from England 21,000 years ago after a climactic freeze, but returned to the region once conditions eased.

We here at the ICBR don't know what the big deal is—it's quite obvious that mammoths are still flourishing in Britain to this day..
