Leeds Now World's Largest Landfill

Trash continues to pile up in the city of Leeds as "bin men" continue to strike. For the last nine weeks, rubbish collectors have refused to pick up people's trash in response to a move by the city council that would drastically cut pay for bin men.

A palpable stench hangs over the city as giant piles of trash line the city's streets. Despite the large numbers of rats and flies feasting on the ever-growing buffet of tossed garbage, residents don't seem to be concerned with the potential for pandemic produced by the less-than-hygienic state of affairs. Need we remind you Brits of the bubonic plague?

The strike shows no signs of ending, and is, in fact, picking up momentum as bin men in other major cities including Bristol are getting ready to follow the lead of their colleagues in Leeds.

Wonderful! Pretty soon the entire island will be one giant landfill. And who calls garbage men "bin men" anyway?
